Descrizione: Ciceroniana erforscht die vielseitige Verwendung der Erzählform Anekdote in Ciceros rhetoriktheoretischen und philosophischen Schriften. Damit liegt eine Arbeit vor, die unter der Prämisse eines systematischen Einsatzes der Anekdote bei Cicero erstmals alle theoretischen Texte übergreifend der Ciceronischen Praxis und Theorie anekdotischen Schreibens auf den Grund geht und zudem nach der Rolle Ciceros für die Entwicklung des Miniaturgenres von der Antike bis zur Moderne fragt. Besonderes Interesse gilt den epistemischen Rückstößen dieses Miniaturnarrativs auf Ciceros Vermittlung von Rhetoriktheorie und Philosophie. Neben Detailinterpretationen ausgewählter Anekdoten in Zusammen- und Gegenspiel mit ihren Kontexten, in ihren verschiedentlichen De- und Rekontextualisierungen bei Cicero selbst oder in ihrer Funktion als argumentative Strukturelemente und signifikantes Stilmerkmal intradiegetischer Sprecher bietet dieses Buch auch einen kurzen Überblick über sämtliches anekdotisches Material in Ciceros Philosophie und Rhetoriktheorie. Unter Abgleich der Anekdote mit anderen, weitaus häufiger erforschten narrativen Kleinformen wie dem exemplum oder der Aitiologie macht Ciceroniana die Anekdote zu einem gleichrangigen Wissensträger der Antike sowie zu einem zentralen Element antiker Wissensgeschichte. [Editor] Ciceroniana explores the versatile use of the narrative form anecdote in Cicero's rhetorical-theoretical and philosophical writings. This is the first study to examine Cicero's anecdotal writing in its practical applications and theoretical reflections on the premise of a systematic use of the anecdote in Cicero, taking into account all theoretical texts. It also examines Cicero's role in the development of the miniature genre from antiquity to modern times. Of particular interest are the epistemic repercussions of this miniature narrative on Cicero's communication of rhetorical theory and philosophy. In addition to detailed interpretations of selected anecdotes in interaction and interplay with their contexts, in their various de- and recontextualizations in Cicero himself or in their function as argumentative structural elements and significant stylistic features of intradiegetic speakers, this book also offers an overview of all anecdotal material in Cicero's philosophy and rhetorical theory.
