Descrizione: [Berti, Emanuele] [Abstract] The story of Orion’s death and catasterism, related in Aratus, Phaenomena 634-646, is the only mythological excursus preserved in all the three Latin translations of the Aratean poem (by Cicero, Germanicus and Avienus). The analysis of the different versions of the myth in Aratus and his Latin translators offers then a good opportunity for a better understanding of the intertextual dynamics between these poets, but also of the originality and individuality of each of them. The present paper proposes itself as a contribution to the study of the concept of ’artistic translation’ and of the evolution of the Aratean tradition.
