Descrizione: The textual and rhetorical analysis of Cic. Phil. 13, 1-7 permits to examine the treatment of the miserable event of the civil war in the political oratory of the last Roman republic. The infamy of helium civile is removed through two principal stratagems: the blame of the civil war is thrown only on the political adversaries; the impii and conscelerati cives are judged hostes and the war against them is considered like a legal bellum externum.
