Description: [Comment] The comparative study of the term " audacia " in Sallust (Catil. : 15 passages, Iug. : 5 passages) reveals its different connotations for Sallust himself, as well as for his protagonists Caesar, Cato the Younger and Catilina. The historical perspective and comparisons with the use of the term by Caesar and Cicero show that the word, which originally denoted a Roman value system, was given a very negative new meaning.
