Description: [Abstract] To address the judges, Cicero uses a whole range of formulas, from the simple vocative, intended to arouse the judges' attention, to the prayerful and the imperative. The frequency with which these different formulas are used depends on the nature of the trial, the composition of the jury, etc. In judicial speeches, the speaker addresses the judges twice as frequently as in political speeches; on this point, there is no evolution.
