Description: [Abstract] Marcus Tullius Cicero (106-43 BC) is regarded in this book as a journalistic personality and communication theorist, and his texts are interpreted using the key concepts of modern journalism studies – journalism studies is thus reintroduced to one of its forefathers. Cicero's life and work are analyzed in the context of modern journalism theories and findings. The focus is on the connections between journalism, rhetoric, and public opinion formation in antiquity and the links to modern journalism studies, e.g., to communication research, opinion research, and persuasion research. The historical link between today's questions and those of antiquity is revealed. [Author]Sigle auteur: Jackob 2005
