Description: This paper aims to identify the presence of the ideas of Cicero, the Roman  consul, in the political writings of the Restoration of Portugal. The Restoration of Portugal can be identified as a movement that recovered the political autonomy of the Lusitanian kingdom in1640 with the defenestration of Miguel de Vasconcelos, the Secretary of State of Filipe IV, crowned João IV king of Portugal, and ended the Castilian kingdom's dominion over the Portuguese in1580.The movement culminating in the Restoration of Portugal had a strong structure for publishing texts favorable to the movement and the government of João IV. Among the figures who recovered Cicero's texts in their arguments in favor of the new government, the repúblicos standout as agents of the period committed to conserving the common good of Portugal.
