Descrizione: Roman concepts of value in the everyday life of the Romans In Roman public life, outstanding character traits are constantly combined to form new combinations that appear to be tried and tested ideals, but are actually tailored to the individual whose achievements are to be praised. There is therefore no generally binding canon of virtues. Moreover, Cicero's speeches show that even the individual terms do not have a uniform meaning and that their positive or negative evaluation only becomes clear from the context.
