Description: [Abstract] The translation from Greek to Latin, as a school exercise, is often mentioned by Latin authors (Cicero, Quintilian and Suetonius). In particular, the paper analyzes a fragment quoted from Aspasia of Aeschines of Sphettus, preserved in Cic. inv. 1.51-52, translated into Latin and included in the discussion on the inductive reasoning. In this case it is possible to explore the close link between a literary quote and the argumentative process used by Cicero in his rhetorical manual.
